The Anti-Communist Labor Party senator (George Ronald Cole) listed under Seats held by party, was elected at the 1953 Senate election from Tasmania as a member of the Australian Labor Party but had chosen to sit in the Senate as a member of the Anti-Communist Labor Party (the precursor of the Democratic Labor Party) before the 1955 election.
